Chapter 11

Sophia woke up early the next morning, she was determined to do something as a gesture for being welcomed to stay in the house, so she decided on making everyone a special breakfast. She was half way through the cooking when Richie's mum found her in the kitchen. "There will be no guest of mine doing the cooking, sit down and I'll get it finished," she told her. Sophia refused to leave explaining that she wasn't going to sit around and let her run after her all day. The two of them continued to bicker until they burst out laughing and agreed they would finish the breakfast together. "Jesus woman, your as stubborn now as the first day I met you, I could hear you from the bedroom," Richie's dad said as he kissed his wife good morning before greeting Sophia. As they all sat down together for breakfast, the two women dished out the food and joined them. "For having two stubborn assed cooks in the kitchen, that turned out to be one hell of a good breakfast. Thank-you ladies," Richie's dad continued, "Jon, theres the kind of woman you want, it's about time you got yourself a nice girl." Sophia felt her cheeks turn red as Jon looked up from his plate and gave her that big smile as he shrugged his shoulders in reply to Richie's dad. Sophia started to clean up the table as everyone finished eating and couldn't help wonder why she had been so embarrassed earlier, she also noticed she was paying more attention to Jon - a lot more.

Jon was getting irritated at having to wait on everyone else getting dressed for dinner. They had decided to go out to a restaurant by the water for a meal and a couple of drinks which he was looking forward to until he realised how long it was taking the rest of them to get dressed. He continued to pace along the hallway continually glancing at his watch. "You know that no matter how many times you look at that watch it still won't make them arrive any quicker," Sophia said as she walked down the stairs. Oh shit! Jon thought, she was wearing a long red dress almost identical to the one he had dreamt about her wearing. She was looking even better in reality than she had in the dream. "Put the eyes back in the sockets man, that's my girlfriends sister, she won't be amused," Richie said to Jon as he playfully shoved him out the way.

The journey to the restaurant went quickly and before they knew it they had been seated and their orders had been taken. Once again Jon had been placed opposite Sophia since they were the only single people there. He almost wished he hadn't been sat so close to her because he couldn't keep his eyes off her. They chatted to each other all through the first two courses and were having a really good time until one of the waiters dropped some plates behind Sophia. She immediately got up to help the red faced young boy clean up and before he had the chance to take the words back, they had already escaped his mouth, "Don't bother helping him, if he can't do his job properly he should deal with the mess." He had no idea why he had said it and the look on Sophia's face proved it was uncalled for. She calmly sat herself down at the table once again before growling at Jon, "And I suppose you've never made a mistake." Jon had no idea what to say to her. Now he was definitely confused about her, why does she hate everything I do? It wasn't that bad a comment to make, was it? Oh that woman is driving me mad! he thought.

Sophia couldn't believe Jon could be so harsh to the waiter. What had he ever done to offend him? she wondered. She chose to ignore him for the rest of the meal which proved to be a much more difficult task than first anticipated. She noticed every movement he made and as the night went on Jon's shirt began to open further at the top to reveal some of his tanned and toned body. Whoever thought ignoring someone would be so hard? Sophia thought to herself. There was no way she would give in and speak to him first, she would wait until he apologised to the waiter before she would speak another word to him.

Jon excused himself from the table shortly after Sophia, partly because he was curious to where she had gone and partly because he wanted to apologise to her. It didn't take him long to find her, she was standing at the edge of the water staring into the distance surrounded by the romantic lights of the restaurant - she was the most beautiful thing Jon had ever seen. He slowly made his way towards her unsure of what to say. "Hey," he said as he finally reached her side, all other words seeming to have left him at that moment in time. He left like a first class idiot, standing there beside her in silence with his hands in his pockets wishing for a braincell to take his side and produce something for him to say. "I don't wanna be like him," Jon spoke so fast Sophia had to ask him to repeat it. "I once done that same shitty job before the band made it big and I don't want to be back there again, it was nothing against him and I don't know why it even came out, I'm sorry," he said as he moved to face her. "I assume you apologised to him?" Sophia asked. "Erm..well...no," Jon replied looking at the floor. "Your a stubborn asshole!" Sophia shook her head in frustration as she turned to walk away. Jon grabbed her by the hand and spun her towards him until their eyes connected before pulling her close and allowing his lips to slowly meet hers in a passionate kiss.

Chapter 10

The following morning they all woke up early as they had been instructed before. Richie’s parents refused to tell them what they had planned until after breakfast so everyone finished their meals as quickly as possible. Richie’s parents finally revealed they were going to put activities in a hat and each couple would pick one out and take part in it during day. Before Jon could protest he had been paired up with Sophia since they were the only two without a partner. Jon reluctantly picked out a piece of paper which revealed they would be going to a theme park together. He was worried about spending the day with Sophia especially after their disagreement the night before. “I’m going to have fun even if it kills me!” Sophia said as she grabbed Jon by the hand and left the house with him trailing behind her. This is going to be interesting, Jon thought.

At the theme park the two of them were silent and uneasy around each other for the first half hour but eventually Sophia noticed Jon relax more and she saw a more fun side to his personality. They went on all the rides they could se at least once and Sophia felt embarrassed at grabbing hold of Jon’s hand and screaming every time they came to a drop on the rollercoaster’s which Jon teased her about. She was finally starting to see him as a person rather than the business-first rock star she had met on set all those months ago. Despite the many different opinions they had, they were getting along well and played off each other a lot. Sophia was impressed by his determination to win her the biggest teddy bear available and couldn’t stop laughing at his expression when they had left the theme park and Sophia told him, “I don’t really like teddy bears.” Jon had paused and then threw the teddy bear at her knocking her down causing her and the teddy bear to start rolling down the hill. Hearing Jon shout, “That looks like fun!” Made her laugh even harder as she tried to see him rolling down behind her and the bear.

“Can you show me around town?” Sophia asked Jon when he asked her what she wanted to do now. He was surprised at her wanting to see the area as there wasn’t really much to show. “There’s not much to see around here, it’s pretty small,” he had warned her before they set off. “There’s plenty to see if you tell the stories right,” she replied. Jon was confused at her wanting to know all about the area and wondered why she was listening to all his silly stories from when he was growing up and the trouble he and Richie used to get into, most people only asked him what it was like being a rock star and part of one of the biggest bands in the world. He almost didn’t know what to say of his past. He found the time had flew past and they had spent hours walking around town and laughing at the stories he had been telling.

As the sun set on the water Sophia and Jon went to the end of the pier to watch the beautiful sight. Sophia found herself confused about Jon, she couldn’t understand why the man was so nice to her today and yet can just as easily be horrible to her. She really enjoyed his company and hoped he would stay this version of himself the next time she saw him. They remained silent for a time while they watched the sun disappear in front of them both in awe at the beauty of it. They then remained deep in conversation until the sky had turned completely dark and Richie crept up on them giving them a fright causing them both to clash heads as they turned to see who it was. The three of them laughed at the incident all the way back to Richie’s parents house.

Chapter 9

Victoria had been seeing Richie for 8 months now and was still as happy as ever with him. Sophia was surprised when she asked her to join them in New Jersey for a family gathering at Richie’s mums house. At first Sophia had refused to go telling Victoria she would just be in the way but after a week Victoria and Richie had convinced her to go. She couldn’t help laugh at how nervous she felt going to stay with her sisters boyfriends parents for a few days, Victoria tried to make her feel more at ease as she had met them a number of times and really liked them. All the way to New Jersey, Richie and Victoria teased her about how nervous she was. “You would think we were the Addams family the way your going on,” Richie laughed. She had no idea why she was so nervous at meeting them but felt it had something to do with knowing Jon was going to be there. She didn’t want to spend the next few days with a man who hated her.

Jon arrived at Richie’s mums house early and unpacked his things, he had been such a frequent visitor of the Sambora’s that they had given him his own room in the house. He loved going to their house for dinner his mum was such a good cook. When he was finished unpacking he made himself useful in the kitchen until Richie finally arrived just before dinner. He greeted his best friend with a manly hug before kissing Victoria on the cheek and looked stunned when he saw Sophia emerge from the car and waved a polite hello. As they unpacked Jon set the table making sure he would be sitting far from Sophia. The rest of Richie’s family arrived and they ate dinner together. It took Jon a while to settle in after finding out Sophia was there but he eventually relaxed and began to enjoy himself.

Sophia got along well with Richie’s family and liked them a lot. She was surprised at how well her sister already knew most of them and got along with them she was like part of the family. “So you and him really are best buds then?” Sophia found herself asking Richie about Jon. “He’s not as bad as you think,” Richie laughed. “He’s a great guy, he’s just not as sure of himself as he likes to make out. He’s way too involved in all the business side of things I think he sometimes forgets who he is. He works hard and we love him for it but sometimes a little too hard and he forgets about the fun things in life.” Sophia found herself watching Jon and for the first time she realised how good looking he was. His long blonde hair hung over his gorgeous blue eyes that were even more noticeable due to the blue shirt he wore. Sophia’s eyes darted back to the shirt which she could tell covered a perfectly sculpted body and then she was distracted by his smile. That famous smile that everyone loved, she had only just noticed it and it caused a flutter within her. Is he really Mr split personality businessman or was Richie just standing up for his friend? She thought as she continued to study him.

Jon was clearing up the table when he noticed a picture of an actress in one of Richie’s cousins magazines with no make up on and looking terrible. He couldn’t help it, the businessman inside him had to say it, “That can’t be good for business. Look at the state of her, you would think she would make more of an effort being in the public eye.” Almost before he had finished the sentence Sophia had stepped in with her point of view. “Are you for real? She’s just a normal person she might have children to look after as well as juggling work, maybe she just didn’t have the time for her appearance. Do you wake up in the morning looking perfect? I sure as hell don’t and I would be pretty pissed off at someone taking my picture while I’m at home minding my own business,” Sophia said, much to the agreement of most of Richie’s family which made Jon feel bad. That woman’s out to get me, he thought.

Chapter 8

Richie paused at the door and laughed at Jon’s startled expression. “You been sitting up waiting on me to come home daddy?” Richie teased. Jon couldn’t help but grin, “I must have fallen asleep.” Jon was shocked to find it was 3am, he thought he had only nodded off for a half hour. “So how was the date then?” Jon asked Richie. The minute the words left his lips he regretted it knowing he was going to get a long detailed story from Richie. Through the next hour Richie spoke non-stop about Victoria and their date together. Jon could tell he was really into this one, he hadn’t seen him like that over a woman before and he hadn’t even brought her home yet which was a big change for Richie who had developed a reputation for having a different woman in his bed wherever he went. Jon eventually made his way to bed leaving Richie in front of the t.v. like an excited puppy.

Sophia ignored her sisters whispers, pretending she was asleep when she heard her quietly call her name to see if she was awake. She wanted to hear what her sister had to say but was just too tired to give it her full attention, instead she smiled to herself at her sisters excited tone and went back to sleep. Waking up in the morning she allowed herself the pleasure of annoyingly waking up Victoria by banging two pots together in her ear causing her to jump up and hit her head on them, much to Sophia’s amusement. Pulling her sister out of bed she could hardly stop laughing. By time she had got washed and dressed her sister had calmed down and was ready to tell her all about the night before. Sophia listened all the while grinning away at how happy her sister was, she never imagined Victoria dating a rock star.

In make up Jon couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable around Sophia following the dream he had. He wasn’t usually one for dreaming at all so that made him more aware of Sophia’s presence in the room. He found it more helpful to complain about her to everyone that would listen, telling them she was rude and always had her nose in things that were none of her business. At the same time he couldn’t keep his eyes off her. He noticed every part of her was just as beautiful in the flesh as it had been in the dream and wondered how he had dreamed her up so perfectly when he hadn’t really looked at her in such detail before now. By the end of the day he felt guilty over what he had been saying to other people about her and couldn’t help but ask himself why he was acting so cruelly.

Sophia arrived home late that night as she stayed behind to help the rest of the crew tidy up so the set was ready for the following day. No matter how hard she tried she found it impossible to remove the thoughts of Jon from her mind. She had noticed him watching her all day and could at times hear parts of the conversations he was having in which he constantly complained about her. She had worked with some horrible stars before but his behaviour was taking it to a new level. She couldn’t understand what she had done to make him hate her so much. “Your obsessed with him,” Victoria had told her when she continued to complain about him late into the night. Sophia considered her sisters words and decided she was paying too much attention to him. “Your right! Who cares what Jon Bon Jovi thinks anyway?” she replied, all the while continuing to try and figure out why he hated her.

Chapter 7

The following morning Sophia was abruptly woken by her sister jumping on her bed. “You’ve got to get up now! I’ve waited ages so get up I’ve got loads to tell you,” Victoria said as she pulled the covers off her sister in an attempt to get her to move. Eventually rolling out of bed she got washed and dressed and joined her sister at the table. Before she could sit down Victoria had burst into an excited rant about her date with Richie the night before. She didn’t expect to ever see him again or take him up on giving him a call so she was shocked when she bumped into him on set and he offered to take her out to dinner. She continued her rant for another 20 minutes while Sophia tried hard to keep up with what she was saying. “So what do you think?” Victoria asked her about seeing Richie again tonight. Sophia smiled, “If he makes you that happy sis, go for it”. Victoria swung her arms around her sister, she knew she would see him again tonight anyway it just meant a lot to her that her sister approved.

Jon spent the first half of the day in his trailer making business calls as he wasn’t needed on set until later in the day. Although it was hard work he was enjoying acting and the publicity for the band that it was generating. He had noticed that the website views had doubled since it was announced that he was taking part in the film and found it funny how after only a couple of days on set there were rumours going around that he was seeing one of the other actresses on set. At first he thought it was amusing until his business brain kicked in and realised he could use it as more publicity once the initial uproar had quietened down. Mentally noting the idea he cleared up the table and made his way down to the make up department.

Sophia once again didn’t have to wait long for Jon to turn up. She was nervous about starting his make up incase he mentioned the day before to her so opted for silently nodding a greeting and kept the whole situation professional. She was glad when she spotted Richie approach who greeted her with a big hug, much to Jon’s confusion. “She’s Victoria’s sister,” Richie told him in reply to his puzzled look. “So am I permitted to take her out tonight?” he asked Sophia jokingly. “What? You’re seeing her again?” Jon asked. “Too right! She’s great! I just came down to ask you what would be best to wear. I’ve got it down to the blue shirt or the black shirt, what you think?” Richie asked. “She must have made an impression. Go for the blue shirt I like that one,” Jon replied, pleased that his friend had asked him for advice on what to wear. “Sorry to interrupt but I reckon the black shirt would look better,” Sophia offered her advice. “You haven’t even seen them,” Jon blurted out. “Yeah but blues more suited to you whereas he has dark hair and eyes that would work well with black, just offering my opinion, sorry,” Sophia replied. “Who asked for it?” Jon grumbled. “Black it is then!” Richie said as he wandered away again.

Jon arrived home still angry at having been overruled on his opinion of what Richie should wear. Who the hell is she to give her opinion, Jon thought as he turned his laptop on to check his emails. Before he knew it he found himself googling the make up artists name and found he was impressed by the work she had done and decided she was more qualified than him to tell Richie what to wear which made him laugh. He packed the laptop away and sat himself comfortably in one of the chairs to watch the t.v. Sophia sexily moved towards him, as though she was stuck in slow motion. She wore a long red dress with a slit running up the side, she was one of the most beautiful women he had ever seen and felt his breath catch as she approached. Slowly she placed one knee on either side of him and placed a hand on his neck as he looked directly into her captivating eyes before she lowered her head allowing her luscious lips to meet with his. Bang! Jon jumped up as Richie shut the door awakening him. “What time is it?” Jon asked, unsure of how long he had been sleeping and slightly bewildered by his dream.

Chapter 6

“How the hell was I supposed to know who he was!” Sophia shouted at her sister who had argued with her all the way home over what had happened in the pub. “Everybody knows who Richie Sambora is! You really do live on another planet,” Victoria replied. “Well he wasn’t wearing a bloody name tag and I’m sure as hell not psychic so give it a rest will you,” Sophia said hoping she would finally be quiet. For all the times she wished her sister would talk more she found herself wishing she would shut up now. “I don’t know why your complaining anyway, he gave you his number didn’t he? He’s a much nicer person than that Jon too, he was a total asshole,” Sophia continued. “Well I can hardly give him a call now that he knows I hate his band mate and best friend that was just embarrassing,” Victoria explained, placing her hands on her cheeks in emphasis. “Your such a drama queen,” Sophia laughed as she made her way to her bedroom.

Jon awoke early the next morning to find Richie making him breakfast. Getting out of bed he showered and dressed making his way to sit at the table opposite a rather cheerful Richie. “I met someone you met yesterday, but she liked me better,” Richie grinned. “What are you on about?” Jon asked looking puzzled. “You pissed off a really hot woman and I found her in a bar. Really man, what were you thinking? She’s unbelievably hot and I gave her my number,” Richie continued to look pleased with himself. “And did she call?” Jon asked, hoping he knew the answer. “Give it time man,” Richie’s smile faltered. He had never had to wait more than a few hours for a call or at least a text, it was something he had become accustomed to since being famous, everyone came running. “Haha! Your losing your touch Richie, the hottie ain’t calling!” Jon couldn’t help but let his smile grow as Richie began to get irritated by him. As he left for work he could still hear Richie shouting out the door at him.

Sophia arrived at work with a still annoyed Victoria just in time to start. She was glad to know she wouldn’t be doing Jon’s make up this time and found the days work much easier and relaxed than the previous. There wasn’t much need for a lot of make up on anyone during filming so Sophia and other members of the crew allowed themselves a little time for some laughs and playing around. They congregated in the area where the trailers sat, well out of the way of filming and began to play around with some soft balls in a rule less game of dodge ball. At first Sophia was having a good time until she realised she was being watched from one of the trailers. Looking closely she realised it was Jon who looked rather angry at the commotion going on outside. “Would you like a game Mr Bon Jovi?” she asked in a mock posh tone as she jokingly curtsied. She had seemingly failed to amuse him as he rolled his eyes and slammed the window shut. Sophia shrugged her shoulders at the other’s enquiries and excused herself from the game wondering why the man hated her so much.

As Jon sat in his trailer trying to learn more of his script he had to constantly tell Richie to be quiet. He had came down to find out what a movie set was like and Jon had problems trying to get rid of him. Just as Richie finally began to settle down, he began to hear a lot of noise from outside and opened the window further to investigate. He couldn’t believe the crew were so noisy while filming was going on and he was trying to learn his lines. His rage grew as the woman from make up asked him to play and even had the guts to curtsy to him. Pulling the window shut he flew into a rant before realising Richie had left him alone. Looking out the opposite side of the trailer he could see Richie sitting on a bench with the woman Jon had offended the day before. Oh great, he thought, today just gets better and better, he’s going to be bragging about her all night.

Chapter 5

The minute the cameras started rolling Jon was in his zone. He was completely unaware of what the camera crew and others were doing around him, all he was concerned with was his own performance and what his co-stars were doing. He got irritated at how long it took for things to be ready between scenes but soon got used to how it worked and used the time as extra study of his script. He had been the only one so far that had not messed up his lines and caused filming to stop which comforted him knowing he could better the famous stars he was working beside. He was especially pleased when a couple of them who had ignored him at first had made an effort to go to him and apologise and even congratulate him on his performance. It had been a long day and when Jon arrived back at his trailer he couldn’t think about anything but getting home to his bed for a good nights sleep before coming back for more of the same the next morning.

Sophia found Victoria after she finished work and told her all about Jon and how he had behaved while having his make up done. Victoria refused to believe her, there was no way Jon would act like that, she’s just winding me up, she thought. “Well here’s your chance, he’s just came out his trailer if you hurry you will catch him,” Sophia pointed towards him. Victoria looked hesitant, she always wanted to meet him but had no idea what she would say when she finally had the chance. Quickly glancing in a window at her reflection, she smoothed her hair and made her way towards Jon.

Jon noticed the blonde woman approach and attempted to get away before she had caught up with him. He was too slow, the blonde woman shouted his name, although it was quiet he still felt it was loud enough to have to acknowledge her. Turning towards the woman he barked, “Is there a problem?” Victoria’s expression changed from excitement to bitter disappointment, this was not how meeting Jon Bon Jovi was supposed to go. Before the woman managed to say anything, Jon realised she held a Bon Jovi album in her hand along with a pen. All too late he realised that she was a fan looking for an autograph and not the unwanted personal assistant he had sent away earlier after explaining he had his own. Flashing his famous smile he tried to apologise to the woman who by now had gone from disappointment to anger. “Oh don’t bother, it’s clearly too much of a fuss,” Victoria said as she marched away. Jon swore loudly and ran his hand through his hair in frustration before making his way back to his trailer where he had left his car keys.

Sophia had watched her sisters encounter with Jon and was surprised when she walked away from him as she had expected her to fall at his feet and hang on to his every word. As they left the main building Sophia offered to buy her sister a drink in the local pub hoping it would calm her down. She clearly couldn’t believe the man of her dreams could be so horrible to her. Entering the pub, Victoria excused herself to make a phone call while Sophia ordered up their drinks at the bar. “You look like you’ve had as good a day as me,” said a tall, dark haired man who had appeared at the bar to her left. “Well I take it yours wasn’t so great either? I’ve got to try and cheer up my sister now, you know that Jon Bon Jovi guy? Well he wasn’t too nice to her there so she’s pretty upset,” Sophia told the man who seemed amused at what she had told him. As Victoria arrived at the bar the man moved towards her, “So you must be the sister.” He leaned in and kissed her on the cheek. Victoria was speechless for a minute before she stuttered, “How do you know my sister?” The man laughed, “She was just telling me how horrible Jon was to you.” Victoria blushed and turned to Sophia, “Why the hell would you tell Richie Sambora that?”

Chapter 4

Sophia smiled at her sister, there were some things she would have to tell her about. Sophia quickly explained that the stars should not be approached unless the matter is work related and informed her that she would likely meet him at some point during filming. The latter part of the conversation put a smile back on Victoria’s face while the two women continued their tour. Although Sophia continued to inform Victoria all about the set she could tell her sister’s mind was elsewhere, mostly likely thinking about her future meeting with Jon Bon Jovi. As though on cue, Sophia’s boss called her just as she had finished speaking with her sister. Wishing her good luck on her new job, Sophia made her way back to the dressing rooms where she worked.

Jon could hardly contain himself, he was so excited when the knock at the door informed him he would be required in the make up department in 10 minutes. Grabbing his script and making his way towards the door, he stopped at the mirror and spoke to himself, “You have to get a grip here. This is finally it; remember and act professional. No bursting through the door giving it a song and dance”. He smirked to himself, a song and a dance was just what he wanted to do right now, he wanted to show everyone how excited he was at being there but they feelings were overruled by his need to be professional and earn respect as an actor. Straightening himself up, he replaced his smile with a serious expression knowing it would show he meant business. Damn, I’m good, he thought as he realised how convincing his expression was and allowed himself a sly smile and a chuckle before turning serious again.

Sophia waited patiently at her make up station expecting Jon Bon Jovi to turn up late like most stars usually did. She felt a little guilty when she had been told who’s make up she would be doing, just a half hour ago she had told her sister to stay away from him and yet she would be doing his make up soon. She was almost shocked when she saw him approach the room on time, that was definitely a first in her books. Walking over to where her boss stood talking to him, she was introduced and told exactly how Jon would look at the end of his make up session. Leading him over to the chair, Sophia explained exactly what she would be doing to him. At first she was trying to make polite conversation as she always attempted with the stars, it was always 50/50 whether they would engage in the conversation or not and after a short period of yes or no answers Sophia gave up and continued working in silence. It wasn’t as though she was his biggest fan but she had seen them on t.v. before and couldn’t help feel disappointed by the man in the flesh and knew her sister would be even more so. He was nowhere near the charismatic character she had expected to meet and although she was annoyed by his lack of answers, it was his refusal to make eye contact that got to her most. She felt as if he thought he was so much better than her that she wasn’t even worth acknowledging.

Jon sat quietly in the make up chair, he had suddenly started to feel sick which he put down to the excitement he felt along with the realisation that he would finally be shooting the movie after the make up was completed. Feeling as though the make up artist could sense his nervousness, he chose to avoid communicating with her unless he had to. There was no way he was going to let anything go wrong now, no one else was going to doubt his ability, not until they saw him at work because after that, Jon knew they would see he had talent in more areas than just music. Leaving his seat as soon as he was finished he hurried toward the set, this was finally it.
